Practical AI Strategies Online Course: Launching Next Week!

After months of hard work and collaboration with a group of dedicated educators, I am excited to announce the launch of my online course, Practical AI Strategies, based on my book of the same name. This course is designed to help K-tertiary educators “navigate the rapidly evolving landscape” (if you know, then you know) of Generative AI (GenAI) and its applications in education.

Over the past two months, I have been working closely with a group of 10 K-tertiary educators from around the world to refine the course content and ensure that it meets the needs of my audience. These educators, who represent a diverse range of educational settings and backgrounds, have provided invaluable feedback and insights throughout the development process.

The course is divided into six main modules, covering topics such as an introduction to GenAI, teaching AI ethics, AI assessment and education policy, practical strategies for AI prompts and image generation, and the (near) future of GenAI. Each module features engaging video content, PDF eBooks, supporting materials, and interactive activities to help educators apply what they learn to their own practice. You can check out some of the video content here.

Here’s what some of the testers had to say about the course and the modules:

I think that AI can feel so large and daunting, and that may be why many of my colleagues are reluctant to dive into it, because let’s be honest, they already have a ton on their plates. I think this module would be useful for educators who are new to the world of GenAI to find their footing and have a chance to test out different platforms

– Module 1 feedback from a K-tertiary tester

Before this module and reading your book, when I thought about ethics in GenAI, my mind went only to how we use GenAI responsibly in terms of originality (whatever that means) and integrity in the classroom. I also thought this topic would focus on how do we teach students how to use it ethically/responsibly as well. What I loved is how you went into depth into areas I previously hadn’t given a single thought to – primarily the environmental impact and the human labour impact.

– Module 2 feedback from a K-tertiary tester

The module is a fantastic guideline on its own for many to structure the benefits and challenges of GenAI. This is not only an assessment module, but more of a societal perspective that diverse group of professionals can adapt to their contexts. For me, it can be useful in many ways for example: 1. I knew Unesco Guidelines, but I was impressed with “Australian Framework for Generative Artificial Intelligence in Schools” and also VINE School GAI guidelines, they can be great examples to discuss and design the guidelines that we might create for our institution.

– Module 3 feedback from a K-tertiary tester

I am incredibly grateful for the time and effort these educators have put into helping me create a course that is both informative and practical. Their feedback has been instrumental in shaping the final product, and I am confident that Practical AI Strategies will be a valuable resource for educators looking to integrate GenAI into their teaching practice.

Starting next week, the course will be available to my mailing list subscribers with a 20% discount off the regular price, and I encourage interested educators to take advantage of this limited-time offer before the official launch on Monday 29th April.

The Practical AI Strategies online course is available now! Over 4 hours of content split into 10-20 minute lessons, covering 6 key areas of Generative AI. You’ll learn how GenAI works, how to prompt text, image, and other models, and the ethical implications of this complex technology. You will also learn how to adapt education and assessment practices to deal with GenAI. This course has been designed for K-12 and Higher Education, and is available now.

As an educator and consultant working on GenAI in education, I am passionate about helping others navigate this exciting and sometimes challenging field. I believe that Practical AI Strategies will provide educators with the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to effectively incorporate GenAI into their work.

On launch, institutional access will also be available for small and large organisations.
