Like a Blog With a Voice: Introducing My New Podcast

For the past few years I have had the privilege of being a guest on many great podcasts. I love podcasts as a way to meet interesting people and have personal, often surprising conversations. Most of the episodes I’ve taken part in can be found on my publications page (and I know I’m missing some – I’m trying to fill those gaps!)

I’ve written recently about how I write and why I have a blog, and those posts were all about communication and digital texts. As well as being a way to meet new people, podcasts are an excellent way to communicate, and so I’ve decided to take the plunge and be the one on the producing end for a change.

Sort of.

Because this new podcast is, strictly speaking, a blogcast. It’s me, reading my blog posts. Yep. The real me. Not an AI version. I promise. You can take my word for it, or you can check out the first few episodes below and listen for the very human errors.

To start, I’ve recorded five episodes from the past few weeks. I’ll add the Teaching AI Ethics posts and newer articles in the coming weeks, and see how this new experiment goes.

And because I’m all about process, here’s a final note on how I got from article to podcast.

  1. Wrote the articles…
  2. Recorded and edited the articles in the slightly clunky beta Adobe Podcast Studio (I’m convinced it will be good when it’s done!)
  3. Created a ‘Podcast’ category, and used the WordPress guide to set it up as a podcast with an RSS feed
  4. Made each podcast episode a new post, and added a synopsis and links created by sending ChatGPT o3 to the original article
  5. Subscribed the RSS feed to Apple Podcasts and Spotify

I hope you enjoy listening to the articles! It’s a great experiment for me, and I’m always interested to hear feedback and ideas.
